Artist Statement

The images of Birds and Other Beings were created by broad strokes of

a single edge razor blade, sometimes a palette knife, with leftover paint

scrapings from the palette at the end of my work day.

Most were spontaneous and completed within fifteen seconds. The

painting “Gobble Gobble” just happened—a random event. This bird’s

appearance inspired a more conscious effort to create birds but still

with the unrefined tool.

These images seem to express something recognizable: an idea,

an emotion, a dynamic gesture.

I created patterns and rhythms, energies, to surround the birds and

other beings giving them a world to inhabit.
